HATE peak crowds...

I really don't understand these rude people that guard the MRT doors every peak hour. Its as if they love to pack together to form a barrier so people cannot board the train. And if I were to mumble my apologies and 'excuse me's as I pass them to scuttle into the center of the train, hopping over bags placed on the floors and manouvering around arms hanging on to railings as if their life on a non-moving train depended on it, I have to avoid the angry glares and 'tsk's so loud they can be heard through my noise-cancelling headphones.

So sometimes, if the crowd is a little more acceptable, I try to suck it up and stay in my tiny corner by the door, breathing shallowly to avoid the BO of the person beside me or the morning breath of someone who happen to yawn (maybe I'm just more sensitive to smells these days). Maybe I'm just one of those who take my personal space too seriously but as the train takes off, jostling all the men and women squashed together like tuna, I really must give a small prayer to up above to let the train ride be shorter that day.

I can just foresee myself one day turning into one of those aunties that will suddenly burst out and give these people a good piece of my mind, while they all look on thinking I've gone insane.

Happy Baby at Carl's Junior

I've not exactly been the the best mum-to-be in terms of food. Have had many unnutritious meals even after I discovered I was pregnant like prata, pizzas with coke, chocolates, liqueur ice cream (dublin mudslide argh), KFC, laksa and fried black pepper crab tung hoon etc so had tried to resolve to eat healthier. However, it seems every meal I had since pregnancy was a fight to keep nausea at bay.

Today I caved in on a fast food craving I was having and we settled ourselves at Carl's Junior in Marina Square after buying a present for Kathleen's baby (wow man, baby stuffs are so ex...!!). I had been craving for the thick chilli beef gravy sauce slathered over fries and so that was my order. Despite the super over salty snack, it really hit the spot. But the bbq double bacon burger with onion rings satisfied an unknown craving and was really very yummy. Together with the Sprite that assisted in removing the bloated feeling i had been having the past couple of months, that meal was the first meal I had since pregnancy for me to feel happy about the pregnancy! Imagine all other meals I had to fight nausea and yet this super unhealthy, unrecommended meal made me feel so very good. It felt so good, I couldn't even bring myself to feel guilty. It really made my day =)

Sharing

Went out for dinner with the girls to celebrate psh's birthday yesterday night. Tried Pasta de Waraku. Have to admit it wasn't half bad, considering the bad reviews on hungrygowhere. Tried the scallop and asparagus in Wafu sauce, mini size. fortunately i wasn't tempted to top up just $2 for the regular size as the serving was just nice. the sauce was fairly light and palatable so didn't upset my queasy stomach. But the scallops were a bit on the borderline, testing my tastebuds. i have to admit on a normal day I wouldn't have the slightest issue with the taste.

After dinner, we retreated to ricciotti for desserts. it was really good as expected. what was unexpected was the 50% discount off pastries after 9pm. so we happily had another round. Kudos to Psh who generously offered to treat us after the 4D she won on Agnes' house number after visiting my house over the CNY. After desserts, to our pleasant surprise, were fireworks fired we guess for the Chingay preview. Overall it was a very nice outing. After this outing, I believe most of them have gathered or confirmed or suspected of my pregnancy already. So no big surprise to them when I go into my next trimester. Which is good, they were my closer friends and I hope for them to know even though I cannot really announce it yet.

Tired

Couldn't sleep last night so feeling quite fatigued now. Last night just kept thinking of how to get my promotion before boss knows I'm pregnant. I really dislike such confrontations but what to do? Coz u know once pregnant, I can just about forget getting the promotion le. Hai... i hate it that we must fight so hard for a miserly increment. Anyway just disclosed to boss about my pregnancy lor. No choice, so she can plan the next semester's work. Maybe must wait couple of years before can get promotion le. haha mabbe i can just retire and look after my baby full time after the maternity leave. ;P hint hint...

Also, Fran's baby is born! TMC on 14th Feb afternoon! sweet hor? Congratulations to her and her hubby for the birth of Michael Darius =) We look forward to making his acquaintance! =D

First visit, first look

Today we finally managed to pop by Dolly Wee's office. Yes hubby very busy, he had to sneak half hour out from his office to come see doc with me, all the while checking and replying email -_-". hai... Anyway, here's a ultrasound scan she printed for us. Sorry for the horrible resolution, i took a photo of it instead of scanning. May scan when we have the time later. Anyway my baby I circled in pink. Can see? =) She also play the heartbeat for us to hear! It was so moving I almost cried.

As for Dr Wee, well, I guess she seems okay, only that she cannot guarantee me she'll be available to deliver my baby (edd early Oct). I would really prefer continuity lor :( She also seem the very practical type, who don't restrict us from doing or eating anything (with minor exceptions), saying all things in moderation. So I dunno leh. Should I continue with her or try one of many others recommended to me?

On a sidenote, we had lunch at Emerald Food Court. Beef noodles again since I had been craving for it. But must say it wasn't as good as the AMK one. must remember not to eat it next checkup.

Making appointment

Called Dr Dolly Wee's office this morning to fix an appointment for Saturday. Unfortunately the nurse told me weekends were really crowded and the waiting time would be long. So I made the appointment at 2pm today. Surprised so last minute oso can slot me in for an appointment on the day itself.

SMSed Ming but he later said he couldn't make it today, so I called to cancel. Think will make appointment tomorrow instead. Will confirm with him tonight before making appointment. Meanwhile I can continue to source for other gynaes, in case I change my mind about Dr Wee. Not sure if she might be a bit too 'interventionist', but my sis told me so long the baby is delivered safe and healthy 'cut then cut lor' to put it crassly ;P

Today I don't feel too well. This irritating bloated feeling is getting to me.

Symptoms

I think there's a word for this but I seem to be projecting all these pregnancy symptoms on myself. Its been a full week since the first positive test. Then I barely had any symptoms except for the missed period and a bit of sensitive breasts. Now, my emotions are a whirl, alternating between tears and apathy. Oh yes, and I can actually spend the whole day sleeping. Unbelievable for someone who couldn't enjoy afternoon naps. Now I'm caught napping a few times a day.

My taste has changed a bit too. Used to love mushrooms but today ate one piece and couldn't contemplate the next sliver. I'm also forever alternating between feeling bloated and hunger, sometimes both at once. I didn't even know it was possible to feel both bloated yet hungry. I craved dried beef noodles which I finally satisfied today at the AMK Hub foodcourt when visiting Lisi and BX at their new place. It really hit the spot =) Think of it now I also drool. Feel like going for another round someday soon. Hee..

CNY visits

Today some friends came to visit for CNY. Fran who is in her 39th week came too. She passed me an extra pregnancy test kit she hadn't used yet, so I'll probably pee on it just to confirm again before going to see gynae (Forgot about it this morning). Due to the visits, I had forgotten to make appointment with Dr Wee. Will do so tomorrow morning. But Ming not free next week, so have to be Sat appt lor.

Haven't announced to friends yet, maybe a bit is pandang (superstitious) but I'm also waiting for the ultrasound to confirm before making any announcement. But parents and in laws have been informed or the POS result. I was hesitant to tell them actually. I fear that it was a false positive or that such a young fetus could easily be lost and I fear I couldn't stand the pressure from in laws if it happened.

I happen to visit some relatives and apparently some ppl could actually see that I was expecting already! Did I look fatter or water-retained or something?? haha was kinda impressive actually but maybe just lucky guess?

CNY

Amidst all the CNY celebrations, I tried to narrow down on the gynae I would like to use. Most likely will stick with Sis' gynae to deliver at Mt Alvernia I guess. It was a hard choice between Alvernia and TMC but I guess Alvernia won out due to its more ample parking space. Visiting Dr Dolly Wee at Mt Elizabeth for the antenatal period would also be more convenient for me as compared to TMC, unless Ming was to chauffeur me each and every visit. That meant that all appointments must be made in the weekends, which meant crowded crowded crowded. I didn't like the lack of flexibility so Orchard was the choice. Now all that's left is to find out the rates before I finalise.

Due to the CNY period, there was no way to contact the clinic. Will wait til Saturday to see if they are open to make an appointment. If not, will try to make one on Monday. But can't help but wonder if there would be any Saturday slots left as the clinic only operated half day on Sats. If no available slot, then will be next next Monday liao, so Ming can take leave to go with me at least for the first visit.

Feeling a bit apprehensive though. I personally know 2 cases of miscarriage so I worry over every sneeze or trip or bite of food. You know 1 in every 4-6 pregnancies is a miscarriage?? The chances of mc only decreases after 12 weeks (1st trimester). Also read so much on the forum about the complications that could occur. For now can only take care of my health and hope for the best.

The BFP

Last weekend I finally tired of waiting and decided to do the pee test first thing sunday morning, supposedly the best time to detect HCG. It was supposed to take 5 minutes for the result to show but withing a minute I could see the parallel red lines forming. To play safe I waited 5 minutes before checking again, and yes, nothing changed, it was a positive sign. It was really early (like before 8am)

It was kinda weird the rest of the day and today. Essentially nothing much had changed since before the test was done, yet I felt so different, concerned every cough sneeze or misstep might harm the tiny seed inside me...

Flo's late again

Yes Aunt Flo is late again. Tempted to pee on the stick and get it over and done with, if not for the frequent signs that she's coming, the stress from work during this busy exam period and from home preparing for CNY that might cause her to be late, and that she's always late anyway.
