I had been toying some time on the idea of letting Tanya self feed from a spoon. It was mainly spurred by my greedy girl's constant interest in trying to grab the spoon we were using to feed her during each of her meals. She was already proficient in eating all on her own the Japanese wafer biscuits we got her. She can also eat dried cranberries and fresh blueberries with great relish. I guess it was just a matter of time we move onto the spoon.
I had to do a bit of research what food was best, and I decided on mashed potatoes with broccoli and milk. Would have added cheddar and fish but I didn't have any at hand. Besides, I doubt much of her first feeding will land in her belly. Of course, as expected, it was a mess, with food landing on the floor (minimal to my surprise), clothes, bib, tray and even her hair, face and nose. But she really enjoyed the process, refusing to let me feed her. She did however allow me to assist spooning the mash onto her spoon, or guide her spoon to her mouth. hehe more fun watching than the cleaning up later.
