Tanya turns 2
Last Sunday marked Tanya's big day as she turned 2. We celebrated in a little gathering at the Sunhaven function room. At least use once before selling away =)At 2, she is finally picking up speech. At 20-22 months she could hardly speak a handful of words plus not yet put 2 words together. We had made an appointment to see a specialist.
But at 22 months, it was like a switch came on and she started picking up more words. To date, she speaks countless (coz i can't count) number of words and can put up to 3 words together, but her diction isn't clear (but ok she's still young ya)
She sometimes prattles off the alphabet A-Z to herself (sans W, which she can't yet pronounce), and counts 1-10 in english and chinese (except seven for the same reason). She speaks more naturally, even to strangers in the lift, which I take as a good sign.
Her favourite toy is the Kuma turtle, which I cannot pry off her hands long enough for a wash, not even after buying two bigger Kumas for her. She still wants her "small small turtle" ('no, no, no', not the 'Big big turtle')
Her favourite program is Pocoyo, and she can call Elly and Pato but calls Lula 'ula'. hehee. I love my little princess... Happy birthday my sweet
Updates: She is almost 90cm and 12kg. String together up to 4 words at this update (20th Oct)
Just took her MMR jab and she's 89cm and 11.kg =) (23 Oct)

Noddy's cap
Tanya's new interest is her cousins' Noddy doll. Yesterday night before bed, she tapped on Noddy's cap and then on her head so I took out her outing hat to let her wear " same as Noddy". She happily admired herself and Noddy in the mirror then pointed to my head, so I had to dig out an old cap to follow along in her game.
She had also asked for Noddy's feet to be covered after seeing that her other doll wears shoes. After putting on her old pair of socks on Noddy, she tried to put on socks for herself.
Wonder what other strange requests she might have once she actually starts talking :)

18 months
Tanya turns 18 months this weekend. She's about 10.6kg now, yet to take her measles shot so i'm not sure her height, but looks to be about 80cm? So I've checked with this and it puts her about 50th percentile. Although some have commented she looks big for her age? She's also got her her teeth except her molars, able to walk forward and backward, run and climb lots of stuff now. But not yet able to jump.
She fell from the stairs at my sis place once. Scared the heck out of my sis, who's alarmed shout scared the heck out of Tanya and me hehe... Small bump on her head that faded in about a day, so hopefully meant not a bad fall.
Foodwise, she's starting to be picky. Still taking 3 milk feeds a day, 180ml each feed. Starting to be naughty and assert herself when we least want it =) but also being really cute and cheeky otherwise.
A little grownup now, she's really no longer a baby. Makes me miss some of the things she did in the past. Like last time she would come kiss me at night when I was pretending to sleep. Super miss that! Hehe... Funny thing is, about a year back, I thought that this overwhelming emotion for her must be a instinctive response for us mothers to protect their offspring so the next generation will continue and the race will not die out. I thought it would fade as she grows older; yet I feel more for her now then ever before. I guess love knows no boundary huh =)

Self Feeding
(backdated)

I had been toying some time on the idea of letting Tanya self feed from a spoon. It was mainly spurred by my greedy girl's constant interest in trying to grab the spoon we were using to feed her during each of her meals. She was already proficient in eating all on her own the Japanese wafer biscuits we got her. She can also eat dried cranberries and fresh blueberries with great relish. I guess it was just a matter of time we move onto the spoon.
I had to do a bit of research what food was best, and I decided on mashed potatoes with broccoli and milk. Would have added cheddar and fish but I didn't have any at hand. Besides, I doubt much of her first feeding will land in her belly. Of course, as expected, it was a mess, with food landing on the floor (minimal to my surprise), clothes, bib, tray and even her hair, face and nose. But she really enjoyed the process, refusing to let me feed her. She did however allow me to assist spooning the mash onto her spoon, or guide her spoon to her mouth. hehe more fun watching than the cleaning up later.

First Purchase
(backdated)
Tanya made her first purchase last saturday. I didn't know she know the concept leh. Then we took her to walk around in Sheng Siong, the nearest supermarket for us. There she caught sight of the Gardenia raisin bread and grabbed hold of it and wouldn't let go. So we let her hang onto her precious item and took her to walk walk inside SS. We thought we could 'con' her mah. Maybe swap for something or until she gets tired of holding it. But after the walk, we tried to get her to put it back, she wouldn't. Give to Mummy or Papa, she also don't want. So okay lah, I mean bread only, we also need to eat so okay lor, we caved and brought the bread to the cashier. Amazingly, she cordially gave the bread up to the cashier. Previously when we buy her toys, she would kick a fuss when we made her give up her item to the cashier for scanning. Does this mean she really understands what it means to pay at the cashier...??

Updates
Okay I guess I had been really lazy in updating ;P
But Tanya's walking forwards, backwards and even running now. Climbing of course too. Eyes are needed all over her. So active we tried to bring her to some weekend trial classes. Will try more then maybe sign up for one after the CNY hopefully.
Teethwise all her front teeth and her premolars are out. Waiting on the molars and incisors. These really give us a headache when it comes to her night sleep pattern. She will wake and cry inconsolably. Hence panda eyes for me and dad.
Recently she has also grown really attached to her Pediped shoes and would refuse to wear any others. Gives me headache for the brand new Crocs we got her for the coming CNY. Hope can psycho her before the CNY comes along.
Night feeds are interesting too as she will entertain herself playing peekaboo with the cat on her chair. She will hide it under the strap then "eh eh" make signs that the cat is missing, then will reveal the cat happily pointing out "eh!" hahaha. she also loves the set of tigers I dug out for the cny, hugging all four of them in her arms. wonder if i will be able to get a shot of that
